Terms of Service
Last updated: June 14, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, browsing, or utilizing the MailFlat website and all associated APIs, MCP servers, and automation tools (collectively referred to as the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
If you are agreeing to these Terms of Service on behalf of a company, organization, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have the full authority to bind that entity to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
2. Service Description & Data Retention
MailFlat provides disposable, temporary, and end-to-end encrypted email inboxes. The core value of MailFlat is transient data processing:
- Temporary Inbox Content: Incoming messages are processed and stored temporarily. Emails will automatically and permanently purge themselves after a set period (2 hours by default for free plans, up to 30 days for premium tiers). Once deleted, data cannot be recovered by any means.
- Permanent Addresses: Your created email address prefixes and subdomains remain registered to your account unless deleted by you; only the email messages within those addresses expire.
- Custom Domains (BYOD): If you connect a custom domain to MailFlat (available on eligible premium plans), you represent and warrant that you own the domain or have the legal right and authorization to configure it. You are solely responsible for configuring your DNS records (MX, SPF, and DKIM) correctly. MailFlat is not responsible for any emails lost or delayed due to incorrect DNS configurations.
- End-to-End Encryption (E2E): If you choose to enable zero-knowledge E2E encryption at-rest, incoming emails are encrypted using your browser-generated public key. MailFlat holds only encrypted ciphertext on disk. We cannot read your mail, and we cannot recover it if you lose your private key or login credentials.
3. Acceptable Use & Abuse Policy
MailFlat is designed for software testing, automated runs, registration flows, and transient personal communications. You agree not to abuse the Service or use it for unauthorized purposes:
- Phishing & Fraud: You may not use MailFlat to register for accounts, send messages, or set up domains to impersonate real brands or run financial scams.
- Custom Domain Abuse: Connecting custom domains that contain trademarked names, mimic existing companies, or are registered for the purpose of phishing, spoofing, or deceptive activities is strictly prohibited.
- Spam & Outbound Bulk Mail: You may not use MailFlat outbound features to distribute unsolicited bulk email (spam) or commercial emails.
- Malicious Code: You may not store, receive, or distribute content containing malware, viruses, trojans, or exploit code.
- Infrastructure Abuse: You may not engage in automated scraping, denial of service (DDoS) attacks, or rate-limit circumvention that harms or degrades Service availability for others.
Violating these guidelines will result in the immediate suspension or permanent banning of your account without notice.
4. Subscription & Billing
MailFlat offers a Free plan, a Pro plan with volume-based tiers, and a custom Enterprise plan. All payments and renewals are processed securely via Stripe.
- Quota Caps: If your monthly usage exceeds your plan's email quota, MailFlat will temporarily pause incoming mail delivery until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade. We do not charge automatic overage fees.
- Cancellations: You can cancel your subscription at any time via the customer billing portal. Upon cancellation, your plan will revert to the Free tier at the end of the current billing period, and your account limits (retention windows and inboxes) will adjust accordingly.
- Downgrades & Prorations: You may downgrade your subscription to a lower volume tier at any time. Downgrades are applied immediately. Since we disable proration credits for plan downgrades, no refunds, credits, or adjustments will be issued for the remaining days of your current billing cycle. Your new billing rate will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
- Refunds: Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you cancel within the first 14 days of upgrade, you may contact support for a refund.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
MAILFLAT DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY MESSAGES WILL BE RECEIVED OR SENT WITHOUT LOSS OR DELAY. BECAUSE THE SERVICE PURGES CONTENT AUTOMATICALLY, YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKING UP ANY IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
6. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MAILFLAT OR ITS FOUNDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL MAILFLAT'S TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO MAILFLAT IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
7. Changes to Terms
MailFlat reserves the right to modify or update these Terms of Service at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
By continuing to access or use the Service after these modifications become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you must stop using the Service.
8. Governing Law & Contact
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the country of operation, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
