Plans & retention
How long messages live, what each plan unlocks, and what happens when you change plan.
Retention, the only thing that expires
• Set a default for new inboxes in Address settings → Default retention.
• Override it per inbox when you create it, or later from the inbox.
• Agents can pass retention_hours on create, handy for single-OTP inboxes that should vanish quickly.
Your plan sets the ceiling
You can always choose a shorter window. Ask for longer than your plan allows and the value is capped to the plan maximum instead of failing, so check the value you get back.
What plans change
Live numbers for every plan (inbox counts, monthly email allowance, agent inboxes and custom domains) are on the Billing page. They come from the pricing API, so what you see there is always the current truth.
• Retention window: two hours on Free, up to a month on every paid plan.
• Saved inboxes: how many addresses you can keep at once.
• Agent inboxes: how many API-created inboxes you can hold (test inboxes tagged ci do not count).
• Monthly emails: received plus sent, reset each month.
• Custom names, subdomains and your own domains: paid plans only.
Changing plan
UpgradingTakes effect immediately
Checkout runs on Stripe; the new limits apply as soon as payment confirms. Existing messages are not re-dated, so a longer retention window only helps mail that arrives from now on.
CancellingYou keep the plan until the period ends
Cancelling stops the renewal. You keep every paid feature until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account drops to Free. Nothing is deleted at that moment, but Free retention starts applying to new mail.
Invoices and payment method
Both live in Billing, which opens the Stripe customer portal, the same place to update a card or download past invoices.
